Christmas Treats

by 11 December 23, 2015

DSC_26441 Looking for some last minute treats to make this Christmas? These two recipes take minimal ingredients and minimal effort, but still pack the punch of being adorably seasonal. If you're anything like me, you know that baking adds to the feelings of festivity, and since, at least here (it's currently 65 degrees!), it looks like like we're not getting anywhere close to there being some snow on the ground, I'll take any extra festive activities I can get! I saw these two recipes on this Buzzfeed list and decided that I need them in my belly. Now, you need them in yours. Go forth and bake! CORNFLAKE WREATHS  DSC_26091 For this, you just need cornflakes, butter, red hots, green food coloring, and marshmallows. Melt 5 tablespoons of butter and 5 cups of marshmallows. Once the marshmallow mixture has melted put in a few drops of green food coloring at a time until you get your desired green. Remove from heat. then dump in the cornflakes and mix. After this mixture starts to harden a little bit, you can then start to mold it into wreaths and holly bushes. Use the red hots to represent the holly. I was skeptical about cornflakes, as the base for a dessert but dangggg they're so good! DSC_26011 PRETZEL REINDEER DSC_26321 This one was my favorite one to make. We had a team of three of us making them, so it was just a hilarious time. The only ingredients you need for this are mini pretzel twists, rolos, and colored M&Ms. Lay out your pretzels on a piece of parchment paper you have on a cookie sheet. Then place a rolo in the middle of each pretzel. Next, cook in the oven for 3 minutes at 225 degrees. As soon as it's out you need to place the M&Ms in the middle of the rolo to make a nose, and then the break your pretzels to make antlers and stick them into the sides of the rolos. Do this as quickly as you can so that the chocolate doesn't start to harden. Done! DSC_26391 I gave you the abbreviated directions for making both of these, but it'll help keep the process simple, quick, and convenient for you. These are perfect to bring to parties, perfect to give as gifts to your neighbors, or, even better, perfect to leave for Santa! Enjoy the holiday luvv, babes! Happy Holidays, melinda-sig
