by 45 September 24, 2015These DIY fall embroidery hoop art pieces are too cute to pass up! If you're just dying to make some of your own, which I know you are, then you'll luvv today. Felt is one of my fall favorites when it comes to craft materials because it is so warm and friendly looking. It makes for a perfect material to use for these adorable little art pieces. Don't be intimidated by the sewing; I'm going to give a couple of simple alternatives if you don't want to pull out the needle and thread.
— Orange, White, and Red Felt
— 3 Embroidery Hoops (one 6 inch and two 4 inch)
— 2 Sheets of 6 inch x 6 inch 18 Count Cross Stitch Fabric
—1 Sheets of 8 inch x 8 inch 18 Count Cross Stitch Fabric
— Fox & Leaf Cutting Template (download at the end of the post)
— Various sized buttons
— Brown, Yellow, Tan, and Orange Embroidery Thread
— An Embroidery Needle
— ScissorsGo ahead and cut the felt pieces using the template provided at the bottom of the post for a guide. Starting with the fox head first. Next, cut out his little white cheeks. So cute!! :) You only need one leaf. For some reason I cut two, but you can ignore that. Oops! Insert your white fabric into the embroidery hoop and place the leaf in the middle of the circle. Begin to sew the leaf in place with the brown thread using a regular running stitch. **If you don't want to sew, skip all of the sewing steps and just glue the pieces down. Then you can use a fabric pen to create the stitch effects.** Once you've made it all the way around the leaf, tie off the thread in the back. Then sew/glue on a couple of buttons around the leaf for fun. Repeat the process with the biggest embroidery hoop except this time, sewing the fox. I used a tiny, brown, button for the nose of the fox. Next, sew/draw his closed eyes. You can look at the template provided for reference. I used the running stitch again here. Coming up from the back and down through the front I sewed on 3 little stars. Don't worry about making them perfect, it is supposed to be art, you know? :) Sew/glue on buttons to the last embroidery hoop art peice to bring the collection together.
