As I am sure some of you realized, last week was Makeup Monday-less. Thanks to the Labor Day holiday, I was able to catch up on some much-needed rest and rejuvenation, which got me thinking: what can I do to rejuvenate my skin for fall?

As the colder months approach, it becomes all the more important to treat your face tenderly; so how better to celebrate the move into September than with a tightening, brightening homemade facial? BONUS: As with my last DIY experiment, this is a simple recipe and can be made with ingredients you probably already have tucked away in your cabinets.

I've tried homemade face masks made with everything from avocado to oatmeal, and this is a balanced combination of some of my favorite skin-nourishing ingredients. All you'll need is honey, lemon juice, and one raw egg.

First you'll need to crack your egg and separate the white into a small bowl. Women have been using eggs for thousands of years to pamper their skin. Eggs contain powerful B vitamins that can boost skin's elasticity and cell regeneration.

Next you can add your lemon juice. Store-bought lemon juice would probably work just fine, but if you're a self-squeezer, one small lemon will produce plenty of juice (around two teaspoons).  The acidity of the lemon helps to dry out any oily or acne-prone skin, while reducing redness and evening skin tone.

Now for the sweet stuff: let's add the honey, hunnies. Half a tablespoon of honey will perfectly balance out your face mask recipe. Honey is another age-old skin saver, containing properties that moisturize, reduce inflammation, exfoliate, and brighten your skin.

Now you're ready to whip and apply. Use a fork or a whisk to combine your three ingredients until the mixture is smooth.

Use a brush to apply a light coating of the mask all over your face, chin, and neck, making sure to avoid the immediate under-eye area.

The mask will be clear and should begin to dry immediately. As it dries, you'll be able to feel the tightening effects.

Wear the mask for thirty minutes then rinse off with warm water. You'll be amazed by the softness and brilliance of your skin!
