Makeup Monday: The Final Five

by 2 July 14, 2014

the final five_feature As I packed all of my belongings in preparation for our move into a new house, the one room I most dreaded was the bathroom. To box up all of my beauty products meant leaving only a small portion behind (in a gallon-sized plastic baggie, at that) for daily use. This exercise in simplicity got me thinking: which five products are the necessities? Below you’ll find my list of the five products I cannot live without; these five are now the bread-and-butter of my daily makeup process, and I have to admit, it’s nice to pare down my somewhat lengthy makeup routine! If you’re looking for a way to lighten your beauty load, read on. the final five_collage   1)      BB cream: Jouer's Luminizing Moisture Tint is perfect for creating that glowing skin without tons of product. It evens skin tone and offers SPF 20 protection from the sun. You can read more about why I love this BB cream here. 2)      Concealer: Right now I'm using the Lighten Up! Illuminating Concealer from Flower, Drew Barrymore's Walmart-based beauty line. It's a really nice (and affordable) concealer; it doesn't crease or run, and it covers dark circles surprisingly well. I'm also a very big fan of Flower's cosmetics, as you can see here. 3)      Blush: Okay, this one might count as sort of cheating. The Sweethearts Perfect Flush blusher by Too Faced contains a slight shimmer, making it a blush and highlighter in one. Jackpot. 4)      Eyeliner: Umm, DUH. If there's absolutely one thing that must be in this baggie, it's a good, versatile eye liner. I went with Physician's Formula's Kohl Kajal liner in a smokey brown shade. I decided to keep the kohl liner because it can be used in multiple ways: to create a smudged, smokey look, to do a soft cat-eye, or it could be blended into the creases of each lid for extra drama and definition. 5)      Mascara: Again, duh. We can't have you leaving the house with a full face of makeup and no mascara. I chose to keep a water-proof mascara that adds volume, length, and curl (seeing as I already packed my eyelash curler). I kept Maybelline's Illegal Length Fiber Extensions Mascara in very black. It allows you to build your lashes to the length and volume you desire. I know what you’re thinking: what about bronzer?? Or eye primer and shadow?? One cannot live on liner alone, right? WRONG. These five products are perfect for a clean-cut, “no-makeup” summer look! Plus some lipstick, of course. I know you have some in your purse so go ahead and put that on, too. katie-sig
