Staying Out of Fashion Ruts

by 1 January 06, 2015

Now that the Holidays are over and we are all getting back to normalcy, I feel like a small depression has set in. The excitement of Christmas and the New Year is gone, but it is still dreary winter and it seems like a waiting game until spring. While you want to stay in bed you have to get back to the daily grind, back to work and back to the routine. Since this routine can start to feel mundane, this month on Hello Luvvy we are focusing on getting inspired in our daily lives with DIY's and tutorials you can use to enhance that routine. This is a theme we are all really excited about. From a fashion stand point, getting into a fashion rut can easily happen. We all have different ruts. Yours may be sweat pants or jeans and a t-shirt. Okay those are both mine, but I have found the best way to get out of a fashion rut is to try new styles. One trend that I still luvv is high-rise jeans with a crop top.  I know many women who are scared of trying this trend and I get it, you don't want to show your mid-drift. The great thing is that brands have heard your cry and are making crop tops longer. There is something about this trend that speaks to me. When I see a girl sporting high-rise I immediately just think she gets it. TA1C7270 TA1C7283 TA1C7281 TA1C7274 TA1C7277

Leatherette Crop, High-Rise Jean (available in-store at Wit & Whimsey),Coat, Claire Vivier Clutch, Ankle Boot

This look features a dark denim (dark denim is the most slimming) skinny jean with a faux leatherette crop top.  You may notice that the color of this (perfectly fitting) leatherette crop is the same color as my skin. I have found that the key to wearing this color is to play up the pinks in my makeup routine. I added just a little more pink blush than usual, heavy black liner and a pink nude lipstick. I really love the results. And the gold necklace lets you know that I am not naked.

How do you stay out of your fashion rut?
