It seems with the success of Macklemore’s song "Thrift Shop," the vintage thrift scene has increased in popularity. The "One man’s trash is another man’s treasure " concept has been around for ages and my friends and I have been hip to it for some time.  We didn’t gravitate towards the thrift scene because it was the thing to do; we found ourselves there because it was fun, cheap, and an inexpensive way to pass the time.  Below are some quick reasons and tips to take advantage of the ageless fad of thrifting.

Most people take the occasional trip to the thrift store or Goodwill for:

Ugly sweater parties

Literature

Costume parties

“Knick knacks” or odd items

Holiday-themed items

Those that are seasoned at thrifting add to the list of reasons to go.  You can also find:

Old records

Paintings/ decor

Useful items of clothing

Accessories (vintage/modern)

Electronics /games

Things to consider:

Always wash any item of clothing purchased

Retail therapy can be reasonably priced

Impulse purchasing  can be without intent or damage ($)
