This plum cardamom mocktail promises to make you stop thinking about cocktails and realize a good mocktail can make you relax just as well. As some of you may know, I am expecting my first little baby babe-- which is awesome and amazing, but also terrifying and draining. When you're pregnant, you get hit with a million rules about what you can consume and a million other changes happening in your body. Essentially your world is 100% upside down. In this time, after MUCH grumbling mind you, I've really learned to enjoy the simple pleasures of what I'm allowed to have rather than to relish and pine after what I can't. One of those simple pleasures has become La Croix. When your ability to consume caffeine is highly limited, there aren't a lot of drink choices. Luckily, La Croix (and other sparkling waters) comes in a ton of different flavors. It really does make me forget my soda- once-a-day-every-day past. I've been trying a lot of different flavored waters, but decided it was time to make my own. Plums are in season, and are just luvvly, so enter my attempts at making my own seltzer water cocktail.
PLUM GINGER MOCKTAIL
Ingredients 2 plums 1 bottles of seltzer water 1 tablespoon of honey 1 teaspoon of ginger Directions Let me say this first of all, if you have a Soda Stream, you DO NOT need to buy the seltzer water above. You can make your own soda/seltzer/sparking water. This is definitely a bonus to soda streams I had never thought about until my pregnancy. If you don't have one, buy any seltzer water. The seltzer will be better for everyday use for this. Now, it's time to prep your drink. First, we are going to smash up that beautiful plum. Peel the plum and then cut into halves or quarters. You will squeeze the juice out of the plums. The riper your plum is, the more likely it is to get little pieces of plum into the mix, but that's perfectly ok! Next, take the ginger and sprinkle it over the plum juice. Let this sit for a while so the plums can really absorb the spice. For all of the other expectant moms, this ginger will really help any nausea you may feel. This would help anyone that feels nauseous at all. In the plum ginger mix, I want you to add in the honey. Mix to combine. You should have a beautiful honey plum ginger mixture now. Time to get stirring! Take your seltzer water and pour 6 oz into a glass. Then mix in a tablespoon of your honey plum mixture. Serve over ice! I hope you enjoy this beautiful mocktail friends. It is good for those that are pregnant and those that are just looking for a refreshing drink. If you want to turn this into an actual cocktail, just add a splash of cocktail or rum. It would be so yumms!
