DIY Abstract String Art

by 45 July 30, 2015

Today I am channeling my inner artist as I create this DIY abstract string art. Using easy geometric shapes, you can create your own luvvly art too! If you think creatively, you may even see mountains and a beautiful blue sky instead of two triangles and a circle. You will need:

— Paint (at least 2 colors)

— Paint Brushes

— Stretched Canvas (mine is 8" x 10")

— Scissors

— Embroidery Needle

— Embroidery Thread

After that dries, paint a circle almost in the middle of the canvas with gold. Then, add gold streaks here and there on the rest of the canvas. DIY Geometric Abstract String Art Hello Luvvy 3 Next, thread your embroidery needle and tie a doubled knot at the other end of the thread. DIY Geometric Abstract String Art Hello Luvvy 4 To start your first triangle, push the needle through the back of the canvas and make sure the knot catches. DIY Geometric Abstract String Art Hello Luvvy 5 Poke the needle back through the canvas from the top wherever you want the peak of the triangle to be. DIY Geometric Abstract String Art Hello Luvvy 6 From behind, insert your needle through the canvas again, this time creating the bottom right corner of your triangle. DIY Geometric Abstract String Art Hello Luvvy 7 Push the needle back through the second hole you created for the peak of your triangle and pull the thread through. DIY Geometric Abstract String Art Hello Luvvy 8 To finish your first triangle, poke the needle back through one of the bottom corners and connect it through the opposite side of the triangle. Repeat those steps to create a second triangle that is a bit larger. DIY Geometric Abstract String Art Hello Luvvy 10 After you have created two triangles, tie off the thread on the back side of the abstract art and trim the excess. Notice how I didn't trim the string until I created both triangles. Even though this abstract string art is super easy, I still messed up once - oops! If you mess up, you can always push the needle and thread back through the hole you just created and back track until you undo the mistake. If there are any mistake holes that you would like to hide, go back over them with a tiny dab of paint. DIY Geometric Abstract String Art Hello Luvvy 9 You can take this same technique and create whatever geometric shapes you like. Just like that, you have adorable abstract art for your house! Alright luvvlies, release your inner artist and let us know if you create your own abstract string art! On Insta, use #DIYluvv so we can check out all of your beautiful creations! xo Jessica
